Chapter 42
Sirach (Ecclesiasticus)
9A daughter to her father is a hidden deceit, worry disrupts his sleep. (9) In her youth, lest she stray, and in her maidenhood, lest she not be wed.
10In her virginity, lest she be seduced, and in her husband's house, lest she betray. (10) In her father's house, lest she conceive, and in her husband's house, lest she be barren.
11My son, over your virgin daughter keep strict watch, lest she make for you a wayward name. (11) The gossip of the city and the curse of the people, will seat you at the gateway of shame.
12Where she dwells, let there be no window, and no house with views all around. (12) To no man let her show favor, and in the company of women let her not linger.
